French Consulates Adopts new System for Visa Appointments

The French Government has introduced a new system called France-visas for scheduling visa appointment.  France-visas is a portal which contains the detailed information about the visa application process. It guides the applicant on preparing and submitting the visa application, tracking the application etc.

French Consulates around the world are in the process of enforcing the new appointment system. At present, appointments at the French consular posts are temporarily unavailable. The new system will now be operated by VFS Global or TLScontact depending on the country. Some countries have already started implementing the new appointment system. The new visa service providers have initiated their operation in countries such as India and China. The new system should be adopted all over by July 2018.

Launching the new system has greatly impacted employers and foreign workers. The introduction is causing delay in acquiring visas and permits. Applicants are expected to face delays in scheduling appointments until August due to the system’s ongoing backlog and general increase in visa applications due to the holiday period. To avoid this scenario, applicants are advised to plan their travel to France accordingly.
